WHATS NEW

Every one is complaining, about whom to trust, the right job, the right relationship and so on. It is so difficult a times to ascertain what can happen next to you when you find yourself in the middle of a particular situation. Am going to concentrate on job seekers and job satisfaction and how it affects us.

When we all get out of school, we find out the truth of life which obviously shows that it’s not all that glitters that’s gold. Most of us come out of school with the idea that friends and family will be able to make our dreams come true, while others depend on their academic performance which they unfortunately come to realize that some time (few) it doesn’t count. So what do we do? Nigeria is still called a third world country because of the poor state of our educational system and high rate of unemployment. The generally language in Nigeria but if as a Nigerian you want to study abroad, most countries like the US, even Malaysia demands that we take an English exam, this is unfortunate and disgraceful.

What is the problem? Well I should think all for us we will want to start with the government. There has been a lot of talk in the education system and how improvements are in the pipe line. Recently the Rivers state government declared a state of emergency on the education system, but what is the plan I ask? We can’t just talk and talk, some thing new must be put in place to instigate learning for youths, all they think about now is money and so far that’s what our economy has been all about. People are suffering every one is thinking about what to eat and how to provide for immediate needs. So it’s hard for a parent to look at all his children’s activities, because he has to work too hard to ensure that child has an education and the family has something to eat.

The rich on the other hand are not safe, they get to be embarrassed by embassies and their children are made to do manual labour and unskilled jobs to meet up wit bills and personal upkeep. And those that don’t want to send their children abroad will also suffer the fear of their children being influenced by the troubled ones in the society. It goes on and on. For those who successfully finished schooling, we now try to find out what is new?

My decision was to take any opportunity that came my way after school, I really never thought on what I now appreciate, which is working for you or being self employed. Firstly, one must work any were, in all don’t forget to read between what you do and try as much as possible to create a new opportunity from all of it. Were ever you work and what ever amount you are being paid or even when you are not being paid look out for a lesson to learn, either in your field or what ever field always try and be the best in what you do.

GOOD TIDINGS

I got a mail from a friend sharing a story with me of someone, I will also want to share with you, it  goes like this;

Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, “I love you and I wish you enough.”

The daughter replied, “Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom.”

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, “Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?”

“Yes, I have,” I replied. “Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?”

“I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is – the next trip back will be for my funeral,” she said.

“When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough.’ May I ask what that means?”

She began to smile. “That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.” She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in
detail, and she smiled even more. “When we said, ‘I wish you enough,’ we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.” Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may
appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good- bye.

She then began to cry and walked away.

To me we should display such love every day of our live to friends, love ones and family. We should wish someone a good day today, put a smile on some ones face, don’t wait till when you know you might not see the person again, what do we want people to see us as when they talk about us? As a Christian what do we want our enemies to know in their heart about us we must show strength and love by wishing every one we come across the best of the day. In the bible, it should be noted that God made it clear through Jesus that His wish for us was not to perish but that we should have life and have it in aboundance. John 10:10

TAKE TIME TO LIVE…..

To all my friends and loved ones,   I WISH YOU ENOUGH!

OBAMA REPUBLIC

A rising force, history is about to be made. A giant from a small town named Hawaii is heading for the white house. The world’s greatest achievement by an individual who believes that the time for change has come and ‘YES WE CAN’ do it. This write up to me will be to compliment the efforts of one who has displayed enough to show that he is up to what he is gunning for in a country which will all know as God’s own country.

An African American for once has been given the chance to champion a campaign for the Democrats. Barrack Obama, his father was from Kenya and young Obama was born in the United States, Hawaii to be precise. He grew up not having so much and took loans to see himself through school. Afterwards he worked in different churches and later became a lawyer.

Politics in his life started in his days as a student as he grew up with a view of uniting people together. As a senator he helped to fight for Illinois veterans to get the disability pay they were promised.

Recently he had these to say about September 11, Today, we honor the memory of the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001, and grieve with the families and friends who lost someone they loved in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We will never forget those who died. We will always remember the extraordinary efforts of our firefighters, police and emergency responders, and those who sacrificed their own lives on Flight 93 to protect their fellow Americans. And we give thanks for the Americans defending us every day in our communities at home, and in our military abroad. On 9/11, Americans across our great country came together to stand with the families of the victims, to donate blood, to give to charity, and to say a prayer for our country. Let us renew that spirit of service and that sense of common purpose. Let us remember that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 are still at large, and must be brought to justice. Let us resolve to defeat terrorist networks, defend the American homeland, stand up for the enduring American values that we cherish, and seek a new birth of freedom at home and around the world’.

This statement made a difference in as John McCain has made a truce on hitting on each other via media campaigns and others. John McCain has appreciated senator Obama over and over on different times during his fight for his party ticket which to me shows all we need to know that he himself has competence in Barrack Obama.

Would he bring change to Washington? Obama is good at public speaking, organizing the poor and is a good husband and father. He wears his clothes well and carries himself well in foreign countries. Flush with acclaim and attention after his eloquent speech at Democratic National Convention he decided to strike while the iron was hot and run for president of the United States. He has attained remarkable success running for president in that he outdistanced far more qualified Democratic runners than he. According to Janis Dorris, she tried to make the readers of phoenix take a bias look at the issue on ground by insisting thjat the huge task of bring change in Washington should be entrusted to those with proven records of accomplishing change : like Sen. John McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Paslin. But she forgets that the same people that want to bring change will only try and change things they put in place at the first place. Meaning they knew these actions were wrong and put it into play all the same. How do you trust someone like that? Compared to a man who has kept all his activities open, who initiated the change every one is now talking about, who also explained why Americans need this change, how then can people say he is not ready for the white house and that he is not experienced?  He has done his work by studying and proposing solutions to the problems which the government has, and should be given a chance to execute his plans.

So far he has been a man of his word living by example, in December 2006 he toke an HIV test as a way of showing support to church leaders who organized a summit on AIDS and the church. He also applied to other public office holders to do the same. He has been chosen to run under the Democratic Party as presidential candidate, insulting him that he is not ready is the same thing to me insulting the Democratic Party and their voters.

Change should be looked at from action and not by words.

THE NIGER

The Nigerian government and press have a new attitude of making every thing look ok when it is not. Events occurring in the Niger Delta are not properly portrayed by the press. The local press has chosen to keep every thing on a low key, while events have shown other wise.

The oil rich Niger Delta accounts for a major portion of Nigeria’s revenue. Crude oil which happens to be the main source of revenue for the nation is gotten from this region. It is therefore supposed to be developed and well taken care of, however the reverse is the case. Deibu is a community that is located in this region which is completely cut off and far from civilization while the beautiful city of Abuja is illuminated with beautiful street lights and amazing structures.

In the past various commissions have been set up, from the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) to the present Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), also the new set up ministry, Niger Delta Ministry which the NDDC will be a body under it and everything in between. These commissions, the Government and the oil company’s are supposed to provide basic social amenities like water, light, schools, good roads, hospitals amongst others for the region. But the youths are not seeing anything being done and so their activity by kidnapping is still the in thing.

Unfortunately, kidnapping has gone beyond wanting to be heard, it’s now an occupation, criminals who were once militants are now enjoying from the pain of their fellow brothers.  Politicians now and always have been using these young men to eliminate and bully there opponents, rumors in the past states that former governors of the region, were using these young boys and also gave them a lot of money and ammunitions. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) recently had one of their leaders arrested and his right now facing trial for illegally importing weapons, how did he start? Rumors also have it that he was initially sponsored by the so called Golden governor.  Also the boys also use their less busy time to make some money for them selves as they kidnap any rich mans’ child and parent in the region. Government in the region can not do much as these boys are their ally.

I ask my self can things change? Well that depends on how much we want change, are we ready to know the truth on how far this problem has gone and stop saying it like just a surface problem. I really believe that there are a lot of gainers from the Niger Delta problem from the high class individuals, to even the JTF (joint tax force) who are in charge of security in the region. We must come together and be ready to eliminate this rising enemy from the pit of terror, because if we don’t our dream for good governance and a safe environment for free Nigerians will soon been gone for good.

Oil is a blessing we must see it from that view and believe, all parties involved that we are going to look back at all the events that lead to a positive change in the region, a change that brought about good housing and security, good water supply and cheap food. Finally a better environment for private investors.

MUSIQUE

‘Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue’-Plato

Talking about music and Nigeria, there has been a sudden acceleration of the acceptance and hype in the industry. What do we love about our music? Is it educative or just for the fun of it?

We must know that in every aspect or industry, it has an economic effect which sticks to it. Nigerians appreciate change and over the years the music industry has moved from one level to another, now rap has also been imbibed by Nigerian musicians. But can we say the industry has been educative? I don’t think so, as we have celebrated the wrong kind of music. Music like ‘Yahoozee’ by Olu Maintain passes a wrong message to the youths, as it describes, or emphasizes and celebrates fraudulent practices. Also others like booty call which I honestly like and others which stimulate sexual thoughts and desires should also be looked into by all. A lot of hip artist which are idols of the youth, pass a new massage which makes one believe that the most important thing was after you get some money, a sign of achievement is buying a new car, then a lot of girls and finally throw a big party to celebrate your success.

Although from a positive side of it the Christian and patriotic music are also being accepted, and a lot are directly moved and motivated by the love and high sense of belonging which the music has past so far.  Our musical artist has also taken patriotism into another level, using slogans like proudly Niaja, Niaja 4 life, and so on. We have come to accept our music more, youths and adults alike, the craze for the foreign artist has died down. In the just concluded Thisday festival I was glade that the organizers displayed our ‘bests’ in Atlanta as a way of also introducing Nigeria to the world.

Challenges also threaten the industry as pirates are on the highest level of their activity in Nigeria. They take it as top priority to frustrate all efforts to stabilize the industry. As long as piracy grows in the country, I don’t think it will be possible for the industry to excel in production and use of top of the art equipment.  I was in a meeting with one of our Nigerian producer were we (me and some friend) was introducing shape CD to them as a way to cub piracy and he warned us to be careful with our goal as the pirates themselves will stop at nothing to eliminate and treat. Although I do not share his opinion on the fact that we should not keep trying but I understood were he was coming from.

Shape CD Africa is a new company which we believe will eliminate piracy if accepted by Nigerians. The origin of Shape CD was in Germany and is becoming a global concept as it can also be used as a form of branding by businesses, record labels and much more. Am looking out for the industry, what can you do to change or help the industry?
